After a relatively short walk from White Moss car park along Loughrigg Terrace you arrive at Rydal Cave, a huge cavern cut into the side of Loughrigg Fell. Although the cave looks natural it is actually the result of slate quarrying to provide roofing slate to the surrounding villages. The cave entrance is filled with water with access possible over a series of stepping stones.
